Upcoming Programs

Here are the dates of upcoming programs and most have some presentation that will include organic. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call or email because things do change!

March 14-16 and March 21-23Organic Farm Tour for NRCS Staff. These two weeks we will be giving Texas organic farm tours for State NRCS staff to meet and learn about organics and organic farming “on the farm.” They will see organic cotton, dairy, forages, citrus, vegetables, sorghum, corn and rice depending on the area.

March 30 – April 1Viva Fresh Expo to be held in Grapevine at the Gaylord Texas Resort. Sponsored by the Texas International Produce Association and featuring several of Texas’ Organic vegetable companies and farm families like Little Bear Produce and Rio Fresh. Fantastic show and chance to meet & greet many in the produce industry! Even more fun as we are taking Tarleton State University students to visit the Expo and learn organics….

Tuesday, April 4Pecan Field Day – the Extension offices in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill and McLennan Counties will host a Pecan Field Day at Russell Pecans, 12633 Gholson Road, Waco, Texas. One (1) IPM CEU will be offered. $10 to register.  Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. Topics and speakers include Pecan Grafting – Tools Methods and Demonstrations; Pecan Tree 101 for Homeowners; and Effective Crow Control Techniques.  Monte Nesbitt, Extension Pecan/Fruit/Citrus Specialist and Robert Irving, Founder of Texas Crow Patrol will be our featured speakers. The McLennan County Master Gardeners will be providing breakfast.  Seating is up to you! Don’t forget to bring your own lawn chair! All persons must call the McLennan Co. Monday, May 1 San Saba Pecan Field Day, all day program in San Saba Texas. Organic will be part of the program for pecan producers. 5 CEU’s offered. More details later.

Tuesday, May 2State Master Gardener Meeting by Zoom. Organic gardening and lawn care on the afternoon program.
